- We are supporting the Home Rule Petition to change the rules so that resources of local signifincance are eligible for local Landmark status. This will allow advocates to protect places that matter most to Bostonians, creating a more accessible and equitable process. I recently testified at the State House to support this effort. 

- We are advocating for changes in Boston's development process to prioritize historic places and prevent losses. I am serving on a new Commemoration Commission, working with City leadership, to find and implement better tools for preservation. 

- Building reuse IS climate action! I serve on a Task Force with the National Preservation Partners Network to promote building reuse and discourage demolition of buildings that are viable for reuse. Through this effort we are creating new tools- like an interactive map of climate policies and case studies- to guide preservation efforts around the country. The Alliance also got a grant to help fund the creation of a carbon calculator tool to inform decisions about building reuse and I'm working with its creators to advance the tool. 

- I regularly engage with developers, architects, commissioners, City and BPDA staff, and local advocates to promote preservation at sites across the city. Our voice plays an important role in Boston's preservation community. I teach a class to empower local advocates called the ACT Class, and my colleague is working with Boston middle school students to learn about their neighborhoods and local legacy businesses. 

- After an extensive DEAI training, the Alliance is putting into action internal changes to make our policies and practices more equitable, accessible, and inclusive. As the new Executive Director, I am excited and inspired to expand our circle and add more seats at the table for new voices, experiences, and perspectives. We are hiring new staff this year and looking to enhance our presence in all of Boston's neighborhoods.

Through advocacy and education, we bring people and organizations together to influence the future of Boston's historic buildings, landscapes, and communities.
