When I was growing up, I always loved when my family would "go into town," to visit my grandparents, grab a slice at Pizzeria Regina's in the North End, and walk around Boston Common and Faneuil Hall. As my parents drove into the city along I-93, I would always crane my neck as we went through the Middlesex Fells in Medford to catch a glimpse of the skyline stretching from the Financial District all the way to the Back Bay.

While Boston's skyline has changed since those family trips, organizations like the Boston Preservation Alliance have helped ensure new additions to the city's iconic skyline don't come at the cost of its historic fabric. Working with community groups, city leaders, and most importantly, Boston's residents, the Alliance has helped preserve Boston's incredibly diverse, invaluable built and cultural heritage for over forty years. As President of the Alliance's Board of Young Advisors, I have the honor of leading a group of emerging professionals in supporting the Alliance to help advocate for Boston's built heritage and educate folks on the importance of the Alliance and its mission.

I hope you can join me this Preservation Month in helping to support the Alliance's mission to bring communities together and leverage their collective power to protect and celebrate Boston's historic resources. Whether its $5, $10, $50, or more, your support will ensure the Alliance can continue to have a seat at the table to guide thoughtful change that ensures the stewardship of the historic character that defines Boston. If you're a non-member and donate $20 or more, you'll get a membership to the Alliance which includes these benefits:

  • Free admission to members-only events with generous opportunities to network
  • Free admission to the Urban Forum, held every other year with topics that focus on neighborhoods and the economic benefits of preservation
  • Priority access to public events, including walking tours, lectures, and preservation-related workshops
  • Invitation and voting rights on Alliance business at our Annual Meeting
ABOUT Preservation Month | 2024

For 45 years the Boston Preservation Alliance has served the residents of Boston as a nonprofit organization that protects and improves the quality of Boston's architectural and cultural heritage. Through advocacy and education, we bring people and organizations together to influence the future of Boston's historic buildings, landscapes, and communities.

Without our members, donors, and community partners, our voice would fall silent–a growing membership makes our voice stronger because together we make Boston better.

Check out the projects we're currently engaged in and thank you for your continued consideration and support.
