May is Preservation Month! To celebrate, please join me in supporting the Boston Preservation Alliance, an independent nonprofit that advocates for the preservation of Boston's invaluable historic places and creates educational opportunities for people to learn more about them. I started volunteering for the Alliance in 2022 after attending their "Preser-GAY-tion" event at Club Cafe, which showcased the history of LGBTQ+ historic sites in the city. This year, I'm helping to plan events that highlight the stories of Boston's historic Asian-American communities. I'm grateful to work alongside such a dedicated, creative, and knowledgable group of people who understand the value of Boston's history, and want future generations to experience it. 

In Boston, historic preservation is as important as ever. A variety of threats, from sea-level rise to community displacement and institutional neglect, could result in irreversible damage and destruction for some of Boston's most important historic buildings and landscapes in the coming years. The work of the Boston Preservation Alliance ensures that Bostonians remain informed about these threats and feel empowered to meaningfully participate in decisions about the city's future. For 45 years the Boston Preservation Alliance has served the residents of Boston as a nonprofit organization that protects and improves the quality of Boston's architectural and cultural heritage. Through advocacy and education, we bring people and organizations together to influence the future of Boston's historic buildings, landscapes, and communities.
