Please humor me on my soapbox for a minute...

Boston is one of the few places in the United States where you can see, hear, and feel time accumulate through its buildings, streets, and traditions. It's why folk want to live and stay here! In fact, there's too much demand to live here, likely because of Boston's success as an urban space, cultural resources, economic opportunity, and our individual social networks. 

As a planner, I've also heard incredible stories and personal experiences from Boston residents demonstrating how little and how much the City has changed. Some of those histories demonstrate how our past policies have ingrained socioeconomic disparity in future generations of Bostonians, often unintentionally. 

As a recent addition to the Board of the Boston Preservation Alliance, I am committed to advocating for the preservation of Boston's community through social preservation practices. This involves finding space for housing growth that respects Boston's architectural and cultural history and, importantly, learning from our historic policy choices. By doing so, we can ensure that architectural and cultural preservation serves future generations. This prospect fills me with hope and optimism, and I'm excited the Alliance can advocate for this future!

For 45 years the Boston Preservation Alliance has served the residents of Boston as a nonprofit organization that protects and improves the quality of Boston's architectural and cultural heritage. Through advocacy and education, we bring people and organizations together to influence the future of Boston's historic buildings, landscapes, and communities.
